Update on my engine problem..sorry for the long post .

A few weeks ago I mentioned about the high oil consumption of my 2003 WRX.... after numerous tests and checks by my dealer...failing leak down test etc...Subaru decided to rebuild/polish my engine...apparently they had to re-do the piston rings and in addition to that they renewed almost everything possibly worn out, incl. seals, gasgets...etc.... The entire engine work took them full 2 + days...
Now The engine work is done, car sounds great and strong.....and at 10k miles I will start a new break-in period, like having a new engine...
One of the major things they mentioned is that syn.oil before 10k-15k miles is a VERY bad idea....I never did put in syn.oil since the dealer always did my service....the reason for my engine failure is most likely a manufacturer-production error !!!! (Am I like or what, what are those odds ?)
But regardless of all that, if I would have had engine mods done before the problem occured my warranty would have probably not covered my engine problem or it would have been a long and hard process to prove them wrong that the engine mod wasn't the reason...my dealer said, that Subaru is unfortunately very sensitive to warranty cases including mods .
Whatever you guys do, make sure the mod is good quality and well tested mod....
Now, that I have my WRX back ... I will be very careful with the mods should I ever do .
