Uh, remember that operating temp for the up-pipe is around 1000 degrees internally, about 600 degrees on the surface. Get under the car when it is hot, you're asking for trouble. I wouldn't touch my turbo heatshield for an hour after I've driven the car on the highway.

You are correct, that's why I mentioned "let it cool down a little, then retorque" Actually, even after an hour the engine is still a little too warm for me in some areas.
