I finally finished putting together a video I made during my gutted up-pipe installation on my Saabaru 9-2X Aero. I outline the major steps I followed, the tools I used, and some of the things I would have done differently. Those who are about to undertake an uppipe installation should find it useful and it may help make the process less intimidating. I could not feel any significant gains after the gutted up-pipe installation and measurements using Dynamic Dyno showed that in fact there were no significant gains. I expected to feel and measure the claimed 500rpm quicker spool up but it was not there. I don't know if anybody else has performed pre and post dyno runs to check the effect of installing a cat-free up-pipe on an otherwise stock vehicle. I suspect that back pressure improvements from an aftermarket turbo back exhaust may be required to see more significant gains from an up-pipe installation.
