Question Up pipe cat. out and still can't rev past 5 grand

I took the cat. out of the up pipe then put the car back totally stock execpt that and I still cant boost above 8lbs. and still can't rev past 5 grand. I put my friends MBC on the car and now i cant get it to boost to anything i want but even 12lbs the car sounds like it has no fuel? And wont rev? Its sounding like somethings wrong with my ecu.?

Check all your vacuum/boost hoses, for starters.

You fried your EGT probe. Get a "fix" for it.

If you unplug it, I bet it will rev just fine.

Why is this the cause Alex? Does this cause some general electrical failure for engine input into the ECU?

Without the cat, the EGT gets too hot and gets fubared. Happened to few of my customers cars. You can get a resistor. I forgot the specs and plug it instead of the egt probe plug.

Also you'll want to replace the EGT probe with a bolt, otherwise the tip of the sensor can break off and pass through your turbine... 2 different friends of mine found theirs in their downpipes.

Ah, I've always wondered why its customary to block the bung on catless uppipes rather than just stick the prob back in. Thanx

ok i put the 2.2 ohm resitor on the egt the car runs better with the gutted up cat and resistor but still not good at all. 12lbs of boost the car breaks up at 4200rpm. The turbo and motor seem fine a mechanic said. so its got to be computer related are there any other sensors i can bypass to help?? SOA dealerships refuse to work on my car i had to sign a statement today before i sue them. I really need ure guys help im on my own it looks like. Thanks Tom.

i think you've asked about this before... if i remember right, it's an '04 and you ran a lot of boost through it when it was pretty much stock?

whatever caused your cat and egt probe to get messed up probably caused more damage than just what you've fixed. maybe have the plugs replaced, look at them for signs of detonation. while you're at it, a compression check would be a good idea. did your turbo suffer any damage?

i highly doubt that it's the ecu that's the problem. look at the cause and effect here; you modified the engine, the engine is now not running right, why in the hell would it be the ecu that got damaged?

did the dealer refuse to work on your car period, or just won't do any warranty work?

Could you clarify why you would sue SOA?

I had a problem with the car Subaru of American delined it for warranty for a problem that they should of taking care of, im not going to get into the details. The turbo is fine both compessor and turbine blades no weird nosies from the engine, i will check the compression though but i dont think a ring went bad the spark plugs looked text book perfect when i took them out and changed them. It just seem weird that putting that resistor in made such a big difference it dose not in im opinion sound mechanical.? What do u think?
