Ultrasonic Cleaning of Injectors at Home?

I got some 850cc injectors the other day, and visually they look alright, but I was wondering about doing some home ultrasonic cleansing with one of those jewelery cleaners.

Good Idea™?

Bad Idea™?

What kind of solution to use if it is worth a try? Take the o-rings off?

I forget the practrical consensus on cleaning as worth it or not, and I do grant it may not even be needed as they look pretty kosher. Will post pix later for reference.

Did a quick search, looks like a pretty common way to clean injectors. I say its worth it if you have the ultrasonic cleaner already. Just imagine how you'd feel if you later found out one of them was gunked up... Carburator cleaner and yes remove the o-rings.

Btw- ever figure out a solution for the turbo youre gonna run?

Copy that, good to know I was barking up the right tree. Hope the carb cleaner is nice to the plastic (it's one of those jewelry cleaners).

And re: turboez, I found a sick VF37 twin scroll setup that I think I'm going with, just raising a little capital to get it. I think the hybrid discussion merits more talk, and I was gonna call Blouch anyway to see about swapping the journal bearing for ballz, and they mention hybrid builds on their site. An EWG'd twin scroll hybrid would be insane, but for this car at least, VF37 ought be a good match for the EJ205.

Oh man. Talk about a tight squeeze!! Ewg twin scroll setup would be super badass. Get ready to shell out some more dough for the custom UP and two wastegates. May actually want to keep that setup IWG since you're ditching that crazy home-job UP anyway... However if you're wanting to be up in the 22/24psi range you'll prob need to have the WG ported if you stay internal.

This guy's got a Full Race TS setup, pipes n all, for sale, but that's too much turbo for my motor and driving (aka 90% commute). I've seen rigs that do have pairs of separate EWGs per up, though I wonder if they do TS housings with the EWG V-band ports on them, like they make for single scrolls. Madness madness...

The twin scroll I'm looking at actually should be pretty nice as is. The equal length header will net more power, the up pipe is catless, and the down pipe is a bellmouth. I can live with the cat in the DP, and whether I keep the mid cat or not, I need to fab a spacer pipe to reach the JDM length DP to my USDM exhaust. Gee, what a perfect spot for an electric cutout...

I haven't even read the above yet after only reading the title I am immediately thinking "Dude is gonna borrow Wife's/Sis's/Mom's jewelery cleaner or what here?"

Only reason I say that is we have for some very high end assemblies and watch parts.

Lemme know if it works.

[Edit]LOL, yeppers on the jewelery kit. Awesome!

Yeah, mom's. Shhh. I'll do a bit of research first and see if as said carb cleaner will be especially bad, or maybe even if moms needs the cleaner at all. Seen it used maybe once (one of those xmas gifts, you know).

I don't have access to a flow tester to see after the fact what gains may have been made (I did see a crazy build for a home one once though... extensive and impressive, computer controlled and logging no less), but it's a nice Just Knowing™ thing to have imo. Want all the E85 I can get in there lol.

Just a wee bit haha.

The injectors aren't dirty at all per visual inspection, and I try and be a cheapskate where safe and possible.

~$25 ea. isn't too bad though.

I've been meaning to send some sidefeeds there. Maybe I'll get that done this week. The price does seem reasonable, and you get a flow chart too.
