Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

turbo radiator

i dont know much. so just tell me why im wrong.

why dont they have a radiator type system or something to keep turbos cool. i know they have intercoolers but what about like an outercooler type thing that would keep the whole turbo casing cool with water running through it? is there a reason they dont have anything like this?

I think he's referring to a seperate radiator system dedicated to cooling the turbo. Here are the reasons I can think of for not doing it:

Cost. More stuff to design and build = more $$$

Necessity. turbos have an acceptable service life as it is, so why fix what isn't broke?

Complexity. It's something else to wear out or break.

For motorsports use though, I can see where it would have some benefit, except for the cost factor. The cost of building the system may not compare favorably to replacing turbos at whatever interval you otherwise would. Interesting idea though.

What do you mean? That 2"x2" 'vent' in the side of the scoop is not a "radiator" used to cool the water flowing through the center section of the turbo...

no, but it would be pretty stupid to install another water cooling system when theres a massive one already in place
