turbo install now a CEL
turbo install now a CEL
i installed an ION turbo a few days ago, it was fine for the first 30 miles or so, then i got a cel, i reset my ecu to see if it would go away, and it just came back on today. Anyone have any idea what it could be? my mods are
catless up
catless 3" dp
3" catback
injen CAI
ION turbo on stock boost
and after the install i took off my unichip and boost controller.
the light is constant, it came on while i was driving and just stayed on
any ideas?? i'm going to try and have someone pull the code, just wanted to see if anyone might know.
thanks for the help

i just thought of another thing, on the two drives where i got a cel, i remember hitting the rev limiter, at 7k rpm in first gear where redline starts, i felt a bogging, maybe those threw the misfires?
i don't usually drive like that, i was just testing it.

yea im trying to find someone to pull the code for me, i was just looking for suggestions i can go look at now and try and fix, that's it.
autozone doesnt pull codes anymore, i called them, some kind of lawsuit because they weren't charging so they can't anymore.
i'll check kragens and jiffylube.
thanks for the help though.

hey look people I'm not an A@@, like you may think ok. But I get a little frustrated when I come to a board like this looking for some usefull info, when I see practically none....."for me". I'm a mechanic with 10 years experience, ASE certified, and I've been personally modifiying turbo vehicles for the past 7 years as well. I have been doing some WRX tuning for the past 6 months and I come here on a weekly basis looking for some new insights, I find very little, except....this like How loud and exhaust will be...
On a side note. If you read through the archives some you would find EXACTLY WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR CAR. Its obvious....Your car has tripped a Catalytic converter effeciency code due to you having no Cats on the car now. Get yourself the proper resistor to "trick" the computer and reset your computer.

The only way to determine the code is to pull it.
The most common for your mods is the P420 (cat ineffeciency code). Of course it is possible to throw other codes like DEAD O2 sensor from running too rich/too lean, misfires or a mulitude of other codes.
Just get the thing checked. I believe that you can go to a weekly meet somewhere and have that done

Nicholas if you are coming to a forum only looking to get knowledge and not share your 10 year of ASE certified experience then shame on you. You are a selfish A@@. So get off you certified high horse and meet people, learn some new things and SHARE your experience. If not just don't respond to these posts and you problems will be fixed, except your bad attitude.
finally pulled the code today, "p0546" from the threads here it says because of low egt temps. and since i installed a new turbo, wouldnt i get higher temps instead of lower temps? also anyone know of a fix besides a resistor?
Silver arrow: i have the hks carbon ti, its a deep throaty sound, i love it, i am sure their full stainless one sounds the same, if the carbon ti is too expensive.

The EGT sensor on the WRX is actually just a Catalytic converter tempurture sensor, for the computer, it does not use that sensor for performance, just "emissions". Do you still have this sensor installed? Does your uppipe have a "bung" for it? This would be your problem if your not using it anymore, it will set this code after cruiseing for a distance.
The only way repair this problem will most likely be to do teh resistor mod, if your no longer using the sensor "as intended"

yeah i havent found anyone doing any other kind of fix for this problem, i bet it threw because i took off my unichip, would anyone reccomeng leaving the sensor in, or just saving it somewhere and put a bolt in the uppipe?
Also when i do the resistor, what if i take out the resistor, will everything still function properly, if i happen to put my car back to stock?
