From what I hear, unless you are runnin' some insane hp, an intake won't do much for you.

Use that money to save up for an uppipe and downpipe.

An intake will not give you anymore power than you already have. You are better off doing the intake silencer mod. The only thing an intake will do for you is increase the turbo spooling noise inside the cabin. That money could be a lot better spent IMO.

^^definitely, k&n drop in filter at most, uppipe is cheapest way to make most hp with one mod

An up pipe is around that price with just few $$$ more. You'll spend much wiser if you go that direction.

blitz intake

I bought the blitz intake off of a felow clubwrx member. I payed $65 for it and it was practically brand new. I wouldn't buy one if it wasnt for a good price like that. I didn't notice any power difference, but i did notice throttle response was alot snappier. Now when i downshift i barely have to hit the throttle to rev match. Plus the noise is AWESOME.

Wink intakes..

watch out for intakes.. cold airs generally will advance timing and lean out the car because you're taking in more air then usual. but if you're looking to mod and get a quality tune such as ecutek get a cold air they'll get ya taken care of. ram airs are rough on a good tune because they're so sporadic about the air they take in dependent upon climate temperatures. a cold air is the best way to insure a good dense charge. but untuned you run a higher risk of detonation with a cold air intake. do some research figure out what you're looking for out of your car. a ram air is cool but the stock intake flows enough air per gram to support a 18g (not that the piping for a fmic would allow the stock airbox to be retained).

OMG... what is it with people and intakes. every single thread about intakes discusses and affirms the fact that intakes do NOTHING. In fact they can harm your engine, especially cia's. Why then do people keep asking about them? Is it the stoopid "woosh" sound you're going after. If that's the case... who gives a ****, you can't hear anything over road noise anyway. is it the look? Again, who care, your hood is closed while you're driving!

It's simple (and cheaper) if all you do is cut out the silencer, throw a k&n in the box, and eventually get an upipe. Not only will you get all sorts of annoying noises and quirks, but you'll get that stoopid power you were looking for in the first place.

If it's fun you're going for, save the power upgrades for later and get a sway bar and some tires and take some driving lessons. You'll quickly realize how you don't really need anymore power if you can drive properly.

I knwo this won't help anything since we will surely see 9 more threads about intakes started by the end of the week... take care

some people actually have to use a short ram for their fmic piping to clear. no more ugly air box, and yea i do have really cool noises.

please... are you really opening your hood to look and drool over your own airbox. Besides, how is the stock one ugly... it fills in the engine bay pretty nicely I would say. If you're getting a fmic the you've probably done a while bunch of other stuff to your car before getting the intake.

I guess it's different strokes for different folks ....

This topic seems to get beat to death and the violent responces to it kills me. But my two cents I have been running an Ingen CAI since my car was new (02') I have 107,000 on it now and no issues. If I run cheap gas it pings a little but as long as I running good fuel or a little octane booster with the crap gas its good to go. I live in Montana so I deal with high altitudes and snow and rain, no problems. I noticed a fair amount of pick up in the mid and top end and it makes the cool woosh sound to boot!!. the only issues I have ever had is one time the rubber mount deal on the fenderwell came loose and was rattling some. Hope this might help some. Good luck.
