Surprising grounding mod
I won a Sun Hyperground System at the So.Coast Subaru meet last week (thanks!) I never would have got one but it was free. I expected maybe a smoother idle and that's it. But I really feel a significant difference in my car. the idle is smoother, and the stereo, lights, a/c all appears to work better. What was surprising was that I do feel like there is more power available now. Not a lot, but the revs are smoother and there is more thrust at low and mid range revs. Maybe it doesn't give more top end, but there feels like more power accelerating! Most people don't find this to be true, but maybe it has to do with my Rex being and auto. Maybe the ECU is happier.
Any ways I recommend this mod, but you can easily do it yourself without a $120 kit.
Here is how I did it

Thanks for posting man. I was borderline if it was worth my $30 bucks and 30 mins to do. I've decided it's worth a try, even if it's just my interior lighting and radio that benefit...
The Hyper Ground system from Sun Auto was one of the first companies to do these mods in Japan and they are one of the few that are a PROVEN product. Many magazines have tested this system on a number of different cars and EVERY TIME there was an increase in power. Skeptical or not it works. And you DO NOT get the same results from a do it yourself kit as you would this. If you can go dyno it an prove it. Some things are better left alone when it comes to mods and this one is one of them. I think the DIY kits is why this mod gets such a bad rap and gives some much skepticism because someones slaps something on and it doesn't do much so they down the idea. Leave the mods to the companies that put in the research and development.
This kit from Sun Auto is proven on the WRX to gain around 7-8 HP. FACT.
Thanks for posting! It looks great!
If anyone is interested in getting one of these kits let me know!
Thanks,
Brian

Yeah, when I spend an hour working on my car, my *** feels like my car goes faster too.
Too bad independent, not company dyno plots have shown no difference in adding more grounds to an engine.
I guess thats what happens when you're engine makes power from the combustion process that occurs when fuel and air combust in the cylinder and not the flow of elecrtrons across the air gap used to initiate it.
But, no one ever listens to me, so I'll just leave you with this:

For the record, if you're running a a massive audio system in you're trunk, putting a 4 gauge ground from the chassis to the battery terminal isnt a bad idea.
why?
Well unlike other grounding mods, this one can actually be explained using the laws of science! If you're drawing 150amps of current through a 4 gauge wire to the back of the car, there will be a tiny bit of resistance at the 8 gauge battery ground, swap that to the same size as you're power wire, solved.
Until someone can give me a scientific explantion as to why they think their shiny wires make the car go faster, I call BS.

Gotta fly the BS flag
on a couple things here. First, saying a DIY mod can't compare is ignorant. Not stupid, ignorant (look up ignorant). It's a ground! Simple stuff. Proper gauge cable with proper connectors (not rocket science). Preparing the surface yo're going to ground is more important. Second, 7-8 hp? Me thinks this is optimistic. The whole "proven kit" versus DIY reminds me of esoteric speaker cables. Most electrical engineers use proper gauge wire to hook up their speakers, while audiophiles swear they can hear a difference with 128 strands wound in a double matrix through an inverted pyramid that points to Venus.

Think about it, you spend 100 dollars on a cable, you're going to concentrate alot harder on the sound to see if you hear a difference, consequentially you will, because you're concentrating so much harder.
I made a DIY ground mod using monster cable and it works great. I don't know if it really makes much difference in the butt dyno but the throttle response is more smooth. But I would say a professionally made grounding kit is more reliable.

a professionally made grounding kit is more reliable. I would say my Fluke 87 has the last word. If you have to ask "what's a Fluke", I rest my case. There's Fluke, and then everything else.
