stock bov midified
Isnt the bov on a 02 wrx actually a BPV? well i was wondering if anydoby ever messed around with their stock bpv and modified it to be a bov? by taking the recirculation hose/tude off? i did this yesterday to see what would happen and what i found out was it doenst work too well. it is really audible compared to stock bpv almost sounds after market. when the car would idle it would drop in to low rpm and die. when you get on the throttle it would hessitate a little. anyone ever try to plug the recirculation hose/tube off? then maybe it wouldnt studder and die. cause on some after market bov's they dont use the recirculation tube/hose. any ideas???

as far as running rich, i would not worry to much. the subaru computer is awesome and it can compensate. also if it were to become rich, it would only do so for a split second as the ecu compensates hundreds of times per minute. as for the recirculation hose, most bov's come with some type of plug if you are running atmosphere.

yeah i found this one inch plug at home depo for .50. i used that to plug up the whole and the car ran much smoother than it did without the plug. 2 days later i got the check engine light so i put it back to stock and reset the ecu and the light hasnt come on since. stock is much more better as a dailer driver and it seems to save on gas also. but maybe i was on the throttle more because of the sound. Oh and is anyone running a custom 3" or 3.5" cat back w/o a resinator??? i am thinking about useing the apexi N1 for hte muffler. thanks much

The factory BOV can actually open up & allow air to pass through at idle & under vacuum (sp?)... this totaly messes up the mix if the hose is unhooked & capped...
I have read that it may not be a problem but can be...
The factory BOV is ment to be recirc. only...
A BOV that is ment to VTA works ok, but some people have reported a measurable loss of performance...
the price to pay for the sound.

ok back the the turbo apexi n1 on my car with a 3'' catback. SOUNDS GREAT. on the freeway cruising at 80 barely audible from the inside. and this is without the resonator in. anyone ever take off their stock muffler and run at the track? remeber how that sounds? the sound exits under your ars. well sounds like that but exits in the rear so its not as loud to you.
