still a newbie: how's this for a plan
I'm not sure why I'm even planning all this if I don't have the car yet... anyhow - tell me if this is a good plan.
1. Stromung cat-back
2. TurboXS Stage1
3. Vishnu uppipe
4. Vishnu pulley set
That way it retains 2 of the 3 cats(just trying to keep in spec with cali law). =) Should I have just go with the Vishnu ECU if I'm going to do this? I was reading that you get charged for every reflash so if I wanted to finish up the exhaust or add other performance parts i'd get shafted extra $$$. From TurboXS' site it sounded like you can do it with your laptop.
Correct me if I'm wrong in saying any of that. =)

The reason why you are planning all this even though you don't have the car yet is because you are a FREAK.
Just like the rest of us. All of us did this

With TurboXS' UTEC you can tune your car via laptop. It'll give you the ability to extract the most out of your car and its mods safely and effectively. It'll also allow you to do serious damage if you don't know what you're doing.

palaban: true - it sounded like they had pre-defined settings that you could upload rather than tweaking it "by hand". That's mostly what I'd be interested in.
02Black and Shotgun: I am worried about emissions levels on the car since I'm in emission hell here in Cali. Anyone vouch that going with the one cat exhaust will still pass emissions(after a good warmup) here in cali? I imagine it's not that much louder with one cat vs. two. My former sports car('90 300ZX TT) had a flowmaster setup that didn't allow you to think - it was great except when I had a passenger... =)
mmboost: lol, yah, maybe it is that.... =D

Most defintely replace the uppipe- all goods- quicker spool, lower egts, no chance down the road for the cat disentigrating into your turbo, gans in hp/torque and no effect on emission testing (if warmed up). If your concerned w/ emission testing look at a down pipe w/ a high flow cat and then ditch the 3rd oe one, this should more than adequate in passing any emission tests. Any free flow cat back will help gains further. You've just added ~ 30hp/ft lbs of torque w/ these changes. Throw in some samco intercooler hoses and you'll ic will flow better and add about 5hp. If want the safest and most reliable engine mgt, consider the ecutek reflash- add another 25-30 hp of safe, smooth power. This puts you in the ballpark of 290 hp/ft lbs. You'll have a quick spooling, responsive, reliable engine. This level of power is considered by many to be close to the relaible safety limits of the drivetrain.
You'll find there are many, many paths to go down in upgrading the powerplant, continue reading and asking questions and you'll arrive at the best plan for your needs.
