sti turbo on wrx

would it be a good idea to put a vf43 (the 07 sti turbo) for $500 on a 02wrx along with all the other goodies, will the trany be able to hold the power. and is it a good deal, and how mush more power will it give me

the tranny can hold that power just fine. as for spending $500 on a vf43? doesn't seem like a good deal to me. the vf43 is an upgraded version of the vf39 and won't get the hairline crack. vf39's can be had for ~$300 and the hairline crack won't hurt the turbo's performance or lifespan. my advice is to pass on the vf43, unless u can get it for $400 it'll be a great deal. oh and remember you'll need much more than just the turbo in order to run it. use the search button and it'll answer all your questions

if u got the vf43 for $500 brand new then that's a good deal.

I currently have the vf43 and will get dyno tuned soon. I'll let u know what kind of power I'm making.

I have a 2003 wrx. VF43, walbro fuel pump, sti pinks injectors, Titek catless up/down, ebay tmic, Cobb AP v2 and i put down 272WHP/258WTQ. The tranny is fine. Just need to learn to drive well and not shock the drivetrain. I can smoke evos and stis (mildly modded).

protuned? What kind of dyno was this on? What's your peak boost at? I'm at 18 lbs peak boost similar setup. Gonna get dyno'd this Saturday.

depends on where AutoHQ wants to do it at. It's going to be either at Speed Element or EIP, but tuned by somebody else.
