STI Tuning underway
Hi guys,
We're currently in the process of testing a few products on the STi. This time, we're using a customer car, not an early release or preproduction car . Like most of the newer STIs we've tested, we baseline dyno tested it to make 210-215 wheel hp with still a fair bit of audible detonation between 3500 and 4500RPM. Remember, this is on CA 91 octane fuel with ambient temps of close to 100 deg.
First thing we installed was our WRX XEDE which worked without a hitch on the first attempt. After massaging the fuel and timing curves for a couple of hours, output climbed to a consistent and knock-free 235 wheel hp. I tested on the road, in pretty harsh conditions, and still no knock. Remember, this output is within 10-15 wheel hp of our Stage 2 WRXs which says A LOT for what the stock STi is capable of in terms of power.
Tommorrow, we'll take control of boost and see what else we can safetly squeeze out of the car. Dyno graphs to come.
Cheers,
Shiv
