Samco Inlet
Ok, So I installed the turbo inlet this afternoon.
The one thing I need to figure out is what the device in the picture does. It was connected to the last nipple on the stock inlet just before the turbo. As you may be able to tell it has some wires running into it, and connects between the inlet and the hose. For now I have connected the hose directly to the Samco, and left the wire contraption plugged in together.
What I am wondering is this.....what is the device for? Is it neccesary to have pluugged into the hose and inlet, or can it just be left in the engine compartment as is.
Well, suggestions welcome and hopefully someone knows what it is and what to do with it........

If it was on the stock intake and there is a place to install it on the Samco inlet pipe, then it would be smart to hook it up. Although i dont know exatcly what it does, its proabbly there for a reason.
What year is your car? My 02 doesn't have that. Looks like an electrically-controlled valve.
It should be hooked up the way it was on the stock inlet, you should be able to do this by getting some additional hose.

You cant just hook it up to the Samco. You would need to cut off the original nipple in order to hook the device up with hose. The crappy part is that the diamter of the samco nipple and the portion the of cutoff niple you need to link are different sizes. That is why I really would rather figure out what the thing even does. If it just measures intake temps or something like that, then maybe its not a big deal if its not hooked up like it was stock.

I think
That the hose in question is the Crankcase Vent hose.
I just did this same install last week , but on a 2003. I have no wires there... Also my tube is a Perrin so the hose routing is different.
There are 2 hoses going to a "t" of sorts. One hose goes to the Throttle body and the other connects to the inlet tube.
The way it was explained to me is: under vaccum or minimal pressure, the crankcase vents directly into the throttle body. That is why people are buying catch cans. Under boost "pressure" the PCV valve opens and the crankcase then vents into the inlet tube.
So yes I would figure out a way to keep that connected.
