if you just put on the hoses and don't reset the ECU, guess what? your computer is still on the maps that it has been fine tuning since you last reset your ECU. do you think it's going to be optimized whatsoever for the new hoses you just got? DUHHHHH!!!!
when you put on the hoses, follow the proper ECU reset procedure, and immediately do a few pulls from 2K to 7K in third gear. if you don't notice a difference, you've got problems. the hoses are definitely a good mod, and are definitely noticable as a first or second mod. why do you think vishnu among others have maps for uppipe and ic hoses?!?! do you think they might have tested a few bolt ons before they settled on those two?
and for the guy complaining about how he can't use the stock clamps, are you serious? have you ever seen what a hose clamp looks like? you can buy them at any hardware store, let alone auto parts store. for the record, the ic hoses make it much easier to remove and replace your ic if you need to do it for any reason.

Actually... my only complaint is that these are HARDER to remove and replace than the stock hoses... yes, you heard me right... the stock hose has a little tab on it so you can push it back on the turbo with a simple screw driver.
I did not reset the ECU and immediately noticed a difference in power... it just got better over time.

what is the proper reset procedure,
is there a back-up fuse like on the hondas or is it just disconnect the battery??
ps .. mine get in on monday (HOPEFULLY), see they will be on the car by saturday afternoon.. will update

I have the Samcos on my 02 with a stock intercooler. The fit was "fair" The Y pipe to the turbo did not line up quite right, but after removing and reinstalling the TMIC enough times I am getting pretty good at lining it up. They were my first mod and I didnt really notice much differance... most of it in my head... If you are going to do further mods, get some.

We've always had good results with the samco hoses, they fit well, make proven power and are easy to install. They'll resist cracking and deterioation and look nice as a bonus
A quality hose kit should be considered a great addition to the first round of mods that may include an up-pipe, pulley, catback, fuel pump and boost controller.

i have the perrin ic hoses
The car runs smoother, but it'll run alot smoother with a full turboback too.
I got road dynoed with turboback exhaust (helix dp&bosal catback)and the perrin hoses at:
Maximum Wheel Power: 188.8 BHP @ 5941 RPM
Maximum Wheel Torque: 187.2 LbFt @ 4121 RPM
i also have the STi Scoop+GT-Spec splitter, and the Smonkee grounding kit. the grounding kit seems to smoothen stuff out but then again it could have been the ecu reset. I also had the 3/16th mod when i did that run. At first the 3/16th mod is great, boost response seems better and quicker. After a while i noticed my boost would fluctaute and not hold solid and then taper like it's supposed to, so i took it off. My ecu is currently at Cobb for the stage2 reflash.
