Rev Limiter?
Ok, I know that the stock Rev limit is set at 7000rpms on the 02 WRX....
But with a remapped or tuned ECU, where are the rev limits usually reset to?
Also, depending on the answers, I am asuming the engine is all stock internals, what is the maximum safe rev limit for the car?
Boost goes up to .12 on the stock gauge and there is no boost controller that I have seen in the car.
What I know is I have an upgraded IHI turbine. It's not huge so thinking most likely STI turbo. Turbo back exhaust, Borla tail pipe.
Thanks!

On Vishnu they go to 8,000 and I have heard (not saying true) that ej20's are good up to 9,000 but not suggested just because it makes everything strain so much.

Vishnu reflashed EJ20 motors rev to 8k RPM?? Are you sure about this? I'm pretty sure you'll have a bit of a valve float issue at that point. I was under the impression that 7500rpm was about as fast as you want to spin the stock motor... although that's pointless on the stock turbo.

id double check with vishnu on this one regarding 8000 rpm reflashed rev limit.
The usdm wrx does not have the tolerances associated for durablity to rev to 8k.
Im sure any ecutek programmer would leave the rev limit stock unless special request.

Cobb sets the rev limiter to 7,250 on their stage 2 and VF34 map http://www.cobbtuning.com/wrx/access...2093%20oct.txt and 7,600 with their STX2 map http://www.cobbtuning.com/wrx/access...2093%20oct.txt. Their STX2 map is boosting at stock levels.
