Question about Stock BOV
Alright, first a little background
The second generation rx7s stock bov's do not take well to being converted to atmosphicly vented. The entire unit is plastic and was designed to be used souly in the resirculated mannar that many stock turbocharged automobiles still are today. So when one upgrades there fuel and computer system and can go without a resirculated system and uses the stock bov a check valve must be used to stop boost from being bled, or vac bled or something along thoes lines. I do not completly understand the problem myself, i just know how to remedy it.
now the question
A friend of mine just aquired a Stock WRX BOV for free after a customor upgraded to some aftermarket piece. With his current setup on his RX7 he does not need to run a resirculated setup and wishes to run it atmosphircly vented. Can he do this with the stock piece without running into the same problems the stock mazda part experiences? The WRX BOV is much higher quality than the 15 year old mazda part, and we are asuming that the WRX part wont leak, but he wants to know for sure. If it does infact leak and will require a check valve hes going to go with an aftermarket piece that doesnt have this problem
