Prodrive Axleback vs Borla Hush Catback
I'm looking for a quieter exhaust system, and I've limited my search down to the prodrive and the borla hush based on forum searching and reading people's opinions on various mufflers. I plan on getting an up-pipe and downpipe to complement whatever I choose, as well as getting a cobb reflash to finish it all off. I'll likely be getting other minor things along the way like IC hoses, but I don't think this'll require a re-reflash anyways...
What I want to know though, are the dyno results from anybody who has similar setups to the ones I described. I'm thinking the catback will produce more power since it also replaces the rear exhaust pipe and resonator. Cobb's stage 2 reflash dyno specifies that a turboback will produce 280hp. How close to this figure should I expect with either of my aforementioned setups. I know neither the prodrive or borla are the most efficient exhausts I can get, but I hope I don't fall too short of Cobb's figures.
One last question, does keeping the stock rear exhaust/resonator help keep down noise levels or nasty exhaust fumes?

Go with the borla hush because it maintains the 3" throughout. The prodrive bottlenecks to a 2.5.
A member with a vf24 noticed he lost 10hp after installing a prodrive axelback compared to a more free flowing (Apexi GT) exhaust.

I have the boral system on my car, I really like it! I posted up the dyno results in this forum, just do a search and you hsould be able to find the link. The system is really quiet at normal speeds and, as others have said, it growls nicely at WOT. Although I think one may have to get some custom work done to get the borla to fit onto an after market dp.

Yeah, I'm the guy that lost 10hp going from an Apexi catback to a Prodrive axleback. The Apexi was way too loud with my Borla header so I put my old Prodrive back on. I gotta get that power-robber off my car asap and get a custom quiet turbo-back, or perhaps a Borla Hush + custom midpipe.

Apart from what I previously listed: up-pipe, turboback, IC hoses, and Cobb reflash, I don't think I'll be doing any more power mods to my car. But since I'm only going to go so far with my power mods, I want as much power out of what I do get, but with minimal noise levels, since I don't want to be drawing attention to a catless car.
And a quick question, is the stock rear exhaust/resonator also rather restrictive? I'm thinking that it is, but does it noticeably keep down exhaust fumes? I also don't want an overly smelly car, which going catless is bound to cause.

It's only really smelly upon initial cold start up. Then as the car warms up and you drive around a little the smell is less offensive but still present.
I've idled infront of at least three cop cars and no one said a thing. Supposedly, one can smell a catless car vs a generally smelly car, so maybe i got lucky.
I'm not sure on the resonator and smells, but i am positive that it does it's job keeping noise levels down. I had a magnaflow welded on to the stock axel back. then i added a helix downpipe which got ride of two cats and the decible level out of the magnaflow stayed almost identicle, not noticibly louder, which i hoped and intended it to be. I picked up the single tip bosal catback and it's definatly louder!

Troyboy, the Borla header added some power, but I also got a reflash the day that it was installed so it is hard to know for sure. It made the car louder, but in a good way, increasing and evening out the "blub blub blub blub." I can feel the throbs in the cockpit.

I have the Borla Hush courtesy of MPJ Performance and highly recommend it. The Hush system is a bolt on exhaust and was a snap to install. I love the fact that it looks near stock so cops don't give me a second look. The exhaust is not too obtrusive as far as sound goes, a nice rumble all the way throught the powerband.

We have found the Borla Hush system to be a popular system for folks wanting to get some power but not add to much noise!
If anyone on this thread wants one we would be happy to give a I-Club member a deal!
