I'm going to move this to the proper forum to broaden the responses you might get. SRIC is not a good place to get good comparative techincal info 
If you're already running a decent short-ram, going with a differen short-ram isn't going to help much. A big maf setup, like any other mod that has the potentail to increase power, will require a toon both for safety and to optimize the gains - otherwise you're playing with fir becuase you're chaning how much air the car thinks it's getting. Running an intake untuned is a good recipe for a lean condition that can lead to detonation, especially in a Sac summer.

ohh nah just the normal mod's vf30,cobb ap, sti pinks,walbo,ngk one step colder plugs, uppipe/downpipe, exhaust and sti intercooler thats it so what does that make me stage 2, 3??? just bought a co2 intercooler sprayer and a turbo/header wrap kit its bad enough the weather kills
