Perrin or Helix?

I want to pick up a downpipe for the holidays and i was wondering if i should get a perrin or helix downpipe. Currently i am running a perrin uppipe and i was wondering if it is worth the 100 dollar price difference to keep everything perrin. thanks

Helix seems to be a popular choice.

However, if you want the loudest exhaust evar, get the perrin downpipe and mate that up with the perrin exhaust. OMFG!!!

Helix is a bellmouth, compared to a Perrin which has a divorced wastegate.

the perrin (IIRC) is a divorced wastegate, but it rejoins the main flow at a severe angle about 3-4 inches downstream from the turbo. This wouldn't really gain much in terms of avoiding turbulence in the exhaust flow, I don't think (but I am not a professional fluid dynamacist). The Helix bellmouth style puts the wastegate flow into the same area as the main exhaust flow, but it's all travelling the same direction, so it might even result in lower turbulence in the exhaust stream.

If the flow is really the paramount thing for you, you'd do well to look at the Bosal downpipe. A divorced wastegate stream that rejoins the main flow far, far downstream and even has a nice angle of entry back into the main flow.

I had a solid perrin. Great pipe until I decided to install my EGT probe in the passenger size manifold. Little did I know at the time that when disconnecting from the uppipe on the bottom, you still need to disconnet at the top, and not just the uppipe but the turbo from the downpipe too. Then you retorque everything back down in a round-robin sort of fashion. I didn't do that work on the turbo side and within a couple of weeks after I installed my EGT probe I had a steadily growing leak at the top of my uppipe between itself and the turbine.

With the Helix flexpipe I have now, I should be able to take apart either side and not have to worry about the other side. Cuts the work down considerably. And even though the Perrin pipe is an excellent piece of hardware, with the flex pipe my chance of leaks over time just do to wear and tear are that much more greatly diminished.
