Perrin fuel rail and STI 550 Injector install Day 1
I started about 2 pm this afternoon on the install. Things went real well. I did a lot of research on the forums before I started and the most helpful or at least the one with the best images was a write up by Jorge at

It was a little shy on removing the intake manifold, but after removing the manifold bolts and lots of lifting and looking I finally got it removed. If you do it, remove the stock air box (if you still have one) and the belt shroud on the front of the alternator. This will make taking off the two thousand or so plugs and various hoses much easier. When I pulled the manifold out the coolant line on the bottom of the manifold on the firewall side leaked out a lot of coolant. Be careful, it almost was enough to get into the openings to the cylinders. Also you will need to loosen the clamp on the intake to the turbo from the air box. It will come out with the manifold.
Once I got the manifold on the bench I completely removed the wiring harness and set it aside. I didn’t have any trouble removing the green shrouds of death. Removing the old fuel rails was pretty easy. I found that if you just cut the rubber fuel lines that link the two rails together across the bottom on the manifold and the one on the pressure regulator the whole thing will be much easier to remove. You will spill a lot of gas, cuts down on the smoke breaks.
The STI injectors were a breeze except for hooking up the connecters on the rear pair. You may have to spin them a bit to get the connecter started. As for the Perrin instructions…. Well all you really need are the images. It is fairly simple to install. Do yourself a favor and pick up 5 longer bolts to fasten the fuel rails back down and a fresh set of manifold gaskets.
That was it for today, got to eat and watch some baseball. Took about 3 hours to get this far. Plan on finishing up tomorrow morning, hope I can remember how it all goes back together….
