Perrin Crank Pulley
I'm putting in my second round of mods (Rotors and a Perrin crank pulley) and I was wondering if I could get some guidance.
How long would it take a TOTAL NOVICE to put in the Lightened Crank Pulley?
What tools do I need?
Are there any problems to expect?
How long would/should it take an experienced mechanic to do the same pulley installation?
Thank you,
James

It should only take about 30 min. I think the crank has a 22mm bolt and the alternator mounting bolts are 14mm. The AC tensioner nuts are 10mm, but maybe 12mm. MAKE SURE YOU LOOSEN THE BOLT ON THE AC TENSIONER PULLEY. Sorry for the caps, but that's the only problem you're likely to run into as trying to just adjust it with the adjusting bolt without loosening the tesioner pulley nut sends you to the Subaru parts dept for a $9 replacement part. Believe me I know
If you don't have a torque wrench already this might be a good time. Personally, I got a Kraftsman model that's 2' long and it works well as a breaker bar. If you try it with a regular short wrench you'll want to have a breaker bar. As far as the process. just loosen the alterator mounting bolts and AC tensioner bolts and take off the belts. When going to loosen the crank pulley you going to need to place the car in gear. I've seen anwhere from 3rd to 5th recommended (I used 5th) also you're going to either get someone to step on the brakes or wedge a bord or something to press the brake pedal down. Remove the crank pulley and replace it with the Perrin and reverse all the above steps. That's the just of it, though I may've left something out. I'm sure someone will correct any misteps I might've made or left out
Hope this helps.

Is there a specific torque setting when re-installing the new pulley? Is there a rule of thumb for how tight the belt(s) need to be or just the old "no noise no problem" method?
