performance from a large inlet pipe??

performance from a large inlet pipe??
I have a bpm large inlet pipe connected to the stock air box.Does anyone know if this pipe delivers any extra hp or just another intake that will do more bad then good?Some companies sell there 'kits' without an aftermarket intake,there must be some reason....Thanks for the help
