Exclamation Need Help!

My subaru has 56,000 miles and my check engine light came on i checked it and the codes came up as ..cylinder 1 and 4 misfire..i reset the codes thinking that i need new spark plugs ..the light didnt come back, on till last weekend..i went and checked it again and the codes read cylinders 1-4 misfire and i think the code was PO171..not sure if you reply to this i can have it for you but the code was tellling me that my engine was running lean..now does anyone have any suggestions that could be causing the lean code to show up??and for the misfires is that most likely spark plugs.distributor cap..coils..??i know im due for a 60,000 tune up but if i can pinpoint whats causing these that would help me thanks

It could be your plugs going bad or possibly your coil packs.

The car has a 5/60 powertrain warranty, so you might as well use it before it runs out.

The WRX standard warranty is 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/60 powertrain, IIRC.

If it is just a maintenance item like plugs, they would charge you. If it is the coilpacks, then they should be covered under the powertrain warranty. Read the warranty manual to be sure.

Check your air filter and make certain the air box is closing tightly.
