NeeD advice Pde vs. Helix downpipe
Hi, i just received 400 bucks for working 70 hrs at mcdonalds, My first big check. I wanna waste it on a downpipe
I need advice, i can buy a pde downpipe locally at rennick subuaru in so cal for about 399, then i would install it myself, But gruppe-s has the helix a invidia jock for only 295. I know that the helix is a full bellmouth and in the past has had some fit problems, And from what i hear the pde is great quality but not a full bellmouth. I want a downpipe that eliminates both cats, and once i gut my upipe i want to run catless on the stock muffler, untill i can save up for a greddy catback. Im gutting tommaro a upipe off a wrecked wrx tommaro and waiting untill i buy a downpipe so i can install both at the same time. Is the pde worth the extra 100, and i can pick it up locally, or should i order the helix online and wait till it arrives? Do both of these dp replace the 2 cats and bolt on to the stock catback? Im sorry this is so long please help.
P.s I installed cusco front and rearsway bars today

Hi, what forum are youtalking about, i searched on clubwrx and nasioc under gruppe-s and found no helix dp in so cal. The only place in irvine that i can think of is SPI motorsports. But they only adervtise the PDE. Thanks alot for your reply i really appreciate it, do you know if both d/p replace both catalitics or does it leave the main 3rd cat in place?

The place in irvine sells it for the same price of Gruppe-s but they dont have any in stock , so i might as well order from Gruppe-s
. As for the helix, since its 3in all the way does that mean it cannot bolt on to the stock midpipe, or does it come with some sore of adapter? If the helix cant bolt up to the stock catback then ill have to save more paycheck to buy the helix and the Greddy evo at the same time, so everything bolts up. As for today i went searching for a downpipe, I found a Hks for 160 at Sp Engeenring. I almost bought it but decided not to because i plan to run a upgraded turbo in the near future. So how can a helix bolt up to the stock catback if its 3in all the way through? I have also heard that the Pde tammpers down to size, does that mean i cannot run a 3in Greedy evo on a pde since it tampers in size.
Ps. SP Engeenring in la puente ca, is the worlds largest greddy seller, They quoted me $570 out the door greddy evo. They got Pist when i said i found the Greddy evo at Nino's auto accesories for like $450 they said "i highly doubt that" but i went to Ninos website, and it said EVO Starting at $439...i wonder how much the wrx evo cost...Thanks everyone for the great replys

I'm out of town, so I can't look at my car, so I can't verify the 3" thing on the Helix DP. But I can tell you that it is an exremely nice piece...I have a Greddy Hyper catback and everything bolted up perfectly and there were no fit issues. Actally, the bottom bolt to the DP on the turbo was a bear, but other than that, no probs. I also have the diff protector on and the exhaust does sit on it, but doesn't bang around and there doesn't seem to be any issue there. I really can't imagine someone wanting more money for another DP cause the Helix is really a nice piece. I got the Gruppe S special that included the DP and the catback for about $950 shipped to my door. If you're gonna get both, might as well save a couple of bucks in the process.

just an FYI, PDE keeps the stock donut gasket so you don't have to have problems with leaks AND you keep a flex/swivel point in your exhaust. Also, this allows you to use any USDM catback without worry. PDE's dyno testing before they chose this design justified their choice to taper it down at the end of the DP because they didn't measure a decrease in flow or power (the tapered section is only about 3/4" long). Perfect fit, awesome build-quality, no CELs (without electronics), and great performance.

Im gutting a Stock uppipe to save money, $400 is insane for a upipie but thats my opinion. Tommaro ima order the helix off gruppe-s. Hope it bolts on to the stock catback. Today i went to rennick and almost bought a pde d/p for 387 out the door, but i couldnt justify paying 60 bucks more when i can get the helix for $319

Sup Teck7droid i just installed a helix up/down combo on a friend of mine car and his cat back was welded using the stock flange after the third cat, well it bolted up fine alright but he had a small leak and you will to. the good thing is its not noticable at all he revved the car al the way to redline and no loud whistling at all. hope this helps.
I just got my helix up-pipe and downpipe from gruppe-s for $430 shipped. screamin deal, came with the CEL fix and all gaskets and studs. finally my rex is gonna be able to breath.
