Hi........ Im looking to buy an ej2o for my RS I found one but it I have no Idea what year it is. From the code to the right of the EJ20 on the Almost square part on the middle of the block reads:
"22 AAA"
and
11111
The one on my RS motor reads:
"23 AB"
and
-Can't see the other number (too lazy to remove alternator to find out!)
-I know it is definetly a JDM motor
-I think it might be a PHase 1 motor but I can't tell
-On the heads it said " Four Cam 16 Valves"
I would need to replace some parts like a cam gear timing belt and Cam cover. What would be the best way to find out which parts to use? Im not sure if USDM parts will work... but will they?
Can someone please help me identify this mystery motor!!!
What year Impreza did it come from?
Would it be too much trouble looking for the replacement parts?
Thanx!!!!!

The numbers and letters represent journal bearing size and pistons, that's all.
Phase I: Has 4 mounting points for the eng/trans.
