Subaru gurus help.

I just got an 05 sti and this past few days I'm been hearing a clunking noise at the back of my subie.. Is my differetial getting bad? Or it's a regular to hear that clucking noise.? Keep on mind it's only on the back left side.. Pls I need info thanks

It's most likely your rear suspension clunking, STi's are known to get it. But don't worry, it's nothing too serious and can be done by any shade tree mechanic, you just need to take it apart and replace the grease with something better (I forget what kind). Search "STI suspension repack" or STi suspension clunk".

Here you go:

This guy added a grease fitting which I don't think is nessecary, just skip those steps.

If you don't have the tools or feel comfortable doing it yourself I'd recommend any of the local shops: GST Motorsports, Speed Element, etc. Goodluck!

I was lazy and didn't do the other crap and just added the grease fitting and added grease, took way less time and less mess.

I have an 05 WRX and have been living with the clunk for 40k miles now. I will fix it when I replace my shocks/struts whatever.....
