muffler
i have a 2003 wrx. i love it as i know you do yours. by far the most fun car i have ever owned. i'm also broke and can't afford to do the basic prefomance upgrades.
however, i would like to give my car a voice with a different muffler and maybe? gain a few hp at the same time.
can anybody suggest a muffler of good quality build and sound.
not looking for loud, more like proud sound level and deep.
hoping this will keep me satisfied till i can make some money which is gonna take some time.
thanks.

Can we assume that your budget only allows for a muffler only, as opposed to an axle-back or cat-back exhaust?

if you were broke like me, here's what i got on my car:
- magnaflow 2.5in inlet dual outlet muffler- around $60;
- high temp aluminum spray paint- $5;
- labor to weld in on- $30-$50 (i could've save this part if my boss let me borrow his portable welder);
i spray painted the muffler with that aluminum color and even have the dual stock tips on it ( cut out the bracket inside the tip and they fit). it looks good, stock-looking to most people and gives much better sound than stock. not too loud, nice deep rumble, and will set off alarms in indoor garages. it might not free up any horsepower (maybe a couple) but i like it for what it cost me.

i got my muffler for $28 shipped its super deep but not loud to the point where it sound like rice rocket. I got it from summit racing. i got the one with a 3inch in and 3 inch out, but they have one to fit the stock piping too, which i think is 2.5inch... try them and get a sweet *** deal...if you're in the north cali area i'll even weld it on there for if u get me lunch....
but anyhow try SUMMITRACING.COM go to exhaust section and go to the summit brand "turbo muffler" link they have about 8 to choose from...
good luck let me know if you need any more help..

Just be careful on what type of muffler you buy. Don't buy a really cheap one. Yes I had a Honda civic before my subie, and I had an exhaust on that was built by a muffler shop. The muffler i had was a cheap one APC i think, something like that. The baffle inside broke after a year, so it rattled all the time. Just watch out for cheap exhausts bro.
