Hmmm... low 12 to high 11... definitely you need bigger turbo than stock with or without N2O depending on your setup. I've seen several folks got there but their EJ20 on stock internals did not last. You'd be lucky to go past 10K miles without breaking anything in the process.

16psi should be fine but will you be happy? You will only start appreciating the power of big turbos when you go over 18psi. which in my opinion your stock block starts losing its reliability

That's why most people who are serious about making big reliable power, go with a built stroker motor. 2.4L, 2.6L, 2.8L. You might wanna check out http://i-speed.us they'll be able to help you out.

The standard block can take a fair amount of abuse. The easiest solution to a new block is simply an EJ257, or JDM 2 liter.

The block itself is decent. The sleeves are decently thick, although it is still a fully open deck block. That is your last concern when pumping the boost through it. It will fail, when is the question.

What do you mean by open deck block?
Open vs closed deck.

i would think a pe18 or 20 would be alright on the stock engine. i dont know since i dont have a after market turbo but i think at 16-18psi it would last and still be reliable.

Depends on tuning. And how agressive you are. It will last for a good deal of time if properly tuned. If not, it can fail on your first WOT pull. Just something to think about.
