Hello, i've got about $200ish to burn, and wanted to know what i should spend it on. My car's stock as a rock and I kinda wanna up grade the preformance side but don't know what to look for. Any thing else like suspension, exterior, ect. would be great if it's a must have for a beginner like my self. Any input would be great because this is my first mod and wanna start off on the right foot.
Thanks for reading-
P.S. It's a 2005 wrx with a 4EAT, yes i know i'm a girl, should have got the 5sp.

what do you want to focus on? engine performance? suspension? if its suspension, you could always buy a nice set of swift springs

engine....maybe an intake or something?

I want to focus mainly on engine stuff, but i hear so much mixed stuff about CIA's that i don't know what do. The reason i mentioned 4EAT is because i hear that an up-pipe will decrease turbo lag and spool time. But with stock exhaust there is the problem of leaking, or having one pipe bigger than the other. That is why i made this thread, to get an idea of what you guy's first mods were, to learn from tha masters
So yeah, mostly engine input would be much needed.
Thanks-

Start off with the exhaust, just throw a nice catback on there, but 200 isnt gonna cut it ull need round 450 to get a nice one, after that just go basic piping to help air flow and turbo spool time. So grab a nice catback, save some money and get a downpipe so ur running a turboback now, then get the uppipe. You can get a CAI if u want but u wont notice a diff like u will with these other 3. After that the modding starts to get expensive, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, suspension... so yah theres 4 starters.
oooh a girl! welcome.
if you only got 200 to spend, i would keep it simple and suggest the helix catless upipe, if you want some power performance.
or if you want some simple suspension performance, look into a set of prodrive springs, to lower your car and help with the handling. it also gets rid of your stock 4x4 ride height nicely.

The best $200 you'll spend is a stiffer rear sway bar. That annoying understeer will be massively reduced and you'll feel instantly how better the car turns. Other than that, as previously said, get a catless downpipe

Just wanted to add one more thing, i know a lot about subies but wanted to know what the best bang for the buck preformance mod was in the $200 price range. I don't mean to sound like a dic&, but just saying, that's what this might look like to some.
So from some personal experience what was or is the best mod for $200.?

I like a Cusco or Perrin adjustable rear anti-sway bar for the first suspension mod. Either one should be well under $200 shipped and I think that the Perrin comes with stronger chassis brackets for the rear bar. The rear anti-sway bar is easily installed with simple hand tools (metric).
For power, I like to recommend the Cobb AccessPORT, although it is outside of your spending limit right now. Cobb has off-the-shelf maps (free!) for common engine mods and you can also look for competent tuners using Cobb's Pro-Tune for the AccessPORT in your area for a custom dyno tune with extensive future mods. Whether the reflashed map is via AccessPORT or the EcuTek system, both give noticeable seat-of-the-pants mid-range torque increase and extend useable power closer to red line in the power band on a stock engine.
As jdepould has pointed out, minor brake upgrades are a good idea for the WRX. It's even more important as you increase the power because if you drive the car hard on the road or track days (road courses), it's easy to fade the stock brakes.
For fellow members who mis-interpreted I am imprezed's first post, he is NOT a girl. Sorry to disappoint, LOL. At least this new member has done some of his homework regarding mods so let's help with more suggestions for mods on a budget, thanks.

Wow. Thank you, that last part is what i was trying to get out, but i guess it didn't come out as i thought it did.
I'll try looking into the anti-sway bars, i hear good things from the two companys. And simple bolt-ons is what i'm looking for.

I would suggest an up pipe as your budget is $200. forget the lowering springs and wait til you have enough dough to get a decent suspension setup. cuz with lowering springs you mite also wanna get yur wheels realigned and that will cost some more. The rear anti-sway bar is also a good suggestion. steel brake lines will help make yur brakes feel better if you wanna go that way.

An uppipe is indeed the best bang for the buck in terms of engine mods. You should add enigne management soon after in order to take proper advantage of the new found power.
