midpipe question

Hi i was just wondering if a turboback removes both the cat in the downpipe and midpipe. Thanks!

most downpipes replaces both cats, DP cat and mid pipe cat.

yes very restrictive mid pipe has cat.

The factory stuff is smaller in diameter than aftermarket exhaust, as well as containing restrictive cats. I know some people like the stealth look and gut their cats but this doesn't create as smooth of a path for the exhaust to flow compared with aftermarket exhausts.

actually the pipe after the down pipe has the cat and the LONG pipe thats after the 3rd cat does not have a cat.

i thought that the piece of pipe just following the dp was the mid pipe, i just consider everything after that the cat back exhaust.

(up-pipe with cat)--->(turbo)---->(down pipe with cat)---->(3rd cat)--->(long midpipe with no cat)----->(axle back muffler)

i was thinking that if it isn't, then i'll just go with an axle-back

if there is any confusion about midpipes,long mid pipes,hash pipes and etc. about the exhaust system. There is a good picture of the impreza exhaust system at scoobymods under the 02 wrx mods forums

so the mid pipe has the third cat in it and the rear exhaust pipe has the resonater in it. id say go cat back for exhaust instead of axle back since the more 3" piping you got the better it flows.
