MBC and Intake back to stock
MBC and Intake back to stock
about a year ago my first mods were an ebay cold air intake and a go fast bits atomic boost controller. And now a year later i feel like a *****. I need to know what i need to put my boost controller back to stock. Please refer to subaruparts.com. Also i want to get a safe intake. I am driving the car from Miami to NC in about 2 weeks and i would like to know if it would be much better for the car to get the intake before the 18 hour drive or if i can do it after i get up there. Another question is that i just put a gutted uppipe and helix catted downpipe on my car with the stock catback. I want a little more power and my buddy has an 04 sti catback for sale. Should i get the sti catback to get some more power now or save up and get a 3 inch catback like bosal or helix. How much power am i missing anyways with the stock catback. Thanks for the help guys.

When you remove the MBC, you'll need to reconnect the "wastegate control solenoid", AKA the "FBC" or factory BC. There are two hoses that come out of the FBC. One goes to the intake duct and was probably capped off at the FBC end when the MBC was installed. It needs to be reconnected to the boost controller.
The other hose needs to connect to the "tee" in the hose that goes between the turbo's outlet nipple and the wastegate actuator. The "tee" is p/n 22315 on this page:
http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=073-1
On that same diagram, you NEED to have a little restrictor, officially called an "orifice" (22326 in the diagram, but the full p/n is 22326KA120) in the hose shown connecting to the bottom end of the "tee" in the diagram. This is the end that connects to the turbo pressure outlet nipple. Without that orifice restricting pressure on the wastegate, you will see 7 psi of boost max, and your car will be slow.

thanks for the help 2stroke, that answers the stupid mbc. Does anyone know whether or not i should change my intake that leans the car out ove to a perrin intake before i drive it 1200 miles non stop? If it is no big deal i will change it after i move but i want to make sure first.
