max rev limit on 05

I was just wondering if anyone happens to know how high the ej20 can rev without floating valves or sending a rod into outer space

Factory redline for your '05 WRX is 7000 rpm. I think it's indicated on your tachometer. This is the maximum recommended engine speed for occasional use, not for extended periods of time. The factory U.S.-spec WRX will not produce additional power above redline and in fact will actually accelerate more quickly if short-shifted slightly below redline, depending on the gear.

This is a new car for you. Are you following the factory recommendations for engine break-in as specified in your Owner's Manual?

Max Torque is at ~ 6800 so shifting below 7K is ideal. The max it can rev without the valves floating (stock engine ) should be 8500 or 9K that is if you bypass the revlimiter and fuel cut. We have gotten the EJ205 to go about 8300 but was losing power at 8K.

The redline can excede the 7k mark by only 250, case in point, My 04 EJ205, then the fuel cut kicks in and bounces off the revlimiter.

With a fully built block and heads you could thereticaly rev to about 11000, but at that point the TD04 would be useless after 6500rpm. Then again these are not Spoon Engines. And not designed to rev that high.

I personaly would not go over 8500.

Yup, when it stutters, it's time to shift. Who needs the STI audible warning????

It looks like I got my numbers a bit mixed up.
