YOU PLAY, YOU PAY
You don't have other people pay for your retarded mistakes and f-ups!
Another suggestion, don't even mod out this new block that you are getting in. You obviously don't know what you are doing with a forced induction engine. You can't just add fuel components and expect your engine to run just fine.

I agree that you have no idea what you are doing (hence you f*cked your car). I agree that it is car f*ckings like that that cause Dealers to be quick to deny warantee coverage to modders who know what they're doing. And I agree that you shouldn't jump in and mod the new block and just add fuel components and think everything will just be chipper.
I think you're VERY VERY lucky to have the dealer cover this for you. you need to study up on this stuff before you think about putzing around with it some more and for god sake get people who know what they're doing (and I mean really know, not just some schmuch friend who modded his civic) help you out in deciding what where when and how to mod.
my first though when I first read your post was "that poor bastard" my next thought was "wow he had no idea what he was doing with his mods" then I read everyone elses response and most agreed. now after reading how the situation ended up it seems as if you didn't learn anything. If you dont learn something from this I guarantee you're car will be back in the shop with something broken again in a month or two. I emplore you for the reputation of WRX owners everywhere... put on a study cap step back from the situation and learn what you did wrong and do it right next time.
not many people get a second change... you did... now be a better modder from it.

You are very lucky. Next time you plan to moddify your car, make sure you know 100% what you are doing. You need engine management, try to find a unichip on the Private FS, you can get one now days for $300-400. Good luck, Zach

Man o Man! Everyone is a straight up *** in here! I just came on here for advice and help! I got advice form someone that told me to get a fuel regulator and a fuel pump to enhance the fuel so it won't run lean! I never said that I was gonna be runnig 18psi again! I have it set for 16psi! Now at 16psi with a regulator and an upgraded pump, I should be ok! Geez... I have an EGT gauge to check what my temps are now too, so i can watch it a lil better! I never said I knew everything about cars, that is obviously why I am askin on the forum what to do! And where do you think I got my ideas for mods from.... hmmm..... yup you guys on the forum! And now you are telling me I put it together wrong, when this is what you told me to do in the first place!

If you guys were smart and scandalus, then you guys could get things covered under waranty too! What, did you think I was gonna pay $6gs to get my car fixed at the dealership! Hell no! So I took the time to put it back to stock, and I just played stupid! I don't see what is wrong with that!

a) Doesn't know and even admits that they don't know what they are doing in the way of modding the car.
b) Dishonest enough to do what you did in that you are basically flat out LIEING to the dealership
I mean did you seriously just listen to what some people on a message board on the internet say to do to modify your car? I went to MANy MANY forums over the course of 3 years and talked with EVERY tuner I could, in length, before I started to do the level of mods you are talking about on your car even at only 16psi!!! Do MORE research and get some freagin' gauges!!!
I just don't know what else to say but Wow... if you can't see how you are wrong in not knowing what you are doing and/or lieing to the dealership about what you did

I don't even know where to start. First of all, just a fuel regulator, a turbo boosted up to 16psi, and a fuel pump are going to do nothing. Because 1) You don't need an aftermarket pump for the stock mitsu turbo. The stock fuel pump will be more than enough for the stock turbo. 2)What makes you think you need a fuel pressure regulator? The people that get these are the ones who are stage 4+ equivalent with upgraded turbos, ic's, fuel rails, etc. YOU DON'T NEED THE PUMP NOR THE REGULATOR. What you really need is ENGINE MANAGEMENT!
I just think you are getting the wrong ideas from the wrong people. More than likely you probably aren't explaining what you have done or what you want to do with your car. Ask some guys in the local area what they are doing. Go to some install fests, talk to some local shops, call some reputable subaru tuning companies (Vishnu, Cobb, TurboXS, etc). I am sure they would help you out.
Now, I will start on the second part of your thinking. First off, if you were morally and financially responsible you WOULDN'T be scandalous and try to rip off the dealership. I do think you should pay the money to get your car fixed! Like I said before, You play, you pay. You ****ed up, why are dropping the ball on them? I hope this is not what you do in life too!
Just because you put in the time to take out your mods does NOT make it ok to have the dealership and Subaru of America pay for your stupidity and errors. They are there to fix (Or at least attempt to fix) problems that go wrong with the car but only when something goes wrong that you didn't deliberately cause (READ - Valid warranty claims). I mean if your door handle breaks on the interior they will cover that. But when you turn the boost up to 18psi, floor it on the freeway with no engine management, and are running lean, ummm something is bound to go wrong eventually.
I almost feel like calling the dealership that is around your area (Where you likely have your car) and tell them to check for indications of prior modifications. But I guess I'm not that big of an *******.

Ok the dealership is gettin their $ for fixing the car, and the only person that is really paying for it is Subaru. I think they have enough $ lying around to cover a short block! By the way I do have gauges too! I wasn't even the one that tuned my car! I had a shop do it! So don't get all mad at me for blowin up my car, Just cause I didn't know! I am not a car expert! Now lets say you needed to get your car fixed, I know you would go to the dealership with your car stock tryin to get it fixed too!

He may not get the last laugh...
I sent a link of this thread without any explanation to all the Subie dealerships in the Seattle Washington area as well as Subaru-America.
Call me an a-hole if you like, but stuff like this just makes me sick. And anyone who comes to a forum to BRAG about being an immoral jerk DESERVES to be turned in.
Fraud charges ought to be brought against this guy...

I thought you got all the tuning information off of this forum!? But then you say you weren't even the one that tuned your car!? Plus, I don't think anyone on here told you to run 18psi, and if they did please give us the link to the thread. I also highly doubt that any shop would tell you that its OK to run 4psi over stock with no supporting moddifications. You don't deserve to have your car fixed under warranty and for your sake you better hope the dealership/SOA dosen't press charges for fraud. That would suck worse than losing to a civic after you blow your motor. -Z

Just an FYI...
I got a coupl of replies from the e-mails I sent. One was from a service manager at one of the Seattle dealerships who said that he'd tried to get it fixed there and SOA denied warranty coverage. This could've been the first place he tried to take it. Or maybe the guy at the second place changed his mind. Either way, he said he e-mailed all the other dealerships and SOA with the guys plate and VIN number. No way Subaru pays a cent on his warranty, even if it's not mod-related...
