You can get any catback exhaust you wish and not void your warranty, but any uppipe or downpipe is grounds for denial if you end up with engine problems.

Catback'll still get you grief from the dealers though, usually. The STi dealer option muffler isn't covered by warranty either. Some dumbass dealer was trying to get me to add-on the STi suspension and muffler when I was shopping for my WRX, then turned around and said that I was responsible for installing it myself and that it wouldn't be covered by warranty. Go fig huh?

I just recvied the new magaize from Subaru. They have a catback exhaust from them made by Bosal. Subaru says in the mag that this catback will not void your warranty. I think it's like 600.00, and they say that it's only slightly louder than stock.

i would say get a stromung twin tip w/ mid pipe or the new blitz nur spec touring...both are suttle and quiet but a worth the money for performance and bolt right up to your stock DP.

I would have to agree with qwk_wrx in that the Dual Tip Cat Back from Stromung is one of the best sounding exhausts!!

And on the subject of voiding warranties....I have talked to a lot of dealers and it all depends on yours. I have seen some that love to do mods and they warranty everything they do and then I have talked to some that were like if you changed your oil or windshield wiper fluid that they were quick to void the warranty....lol. So I would just advise that you talk to your dealer(s) in your area and see what their views are. Some dealers are suppliers for some of the largest aftermarket parts like TurboXS, Stoptech, Prodrive and many more.

Hey this car was made to be modded and it is so much fun....but you must heed the Surgeon Generals warning on that it is SO addictive!!

I also am a distributor of many brands of exhausts and for those that want a quiet exhaust that still looks stock, my customers always get the Stromung Dual tip from me.

Let me know if I can help!

Thanks,
Brian

borla hush is a full catback for $450 which is around the same price one pays for only an axel back from Stromung. The hush system is a full 3" which gives you the oppurtunity to run a full 3" turboback when your warrenty is up. I'm guessing it shouldn't sound too loud fully catless.

BTW,

The bosal catback for subaru can be had for $350 from several vendors. It's quiet with the cats and still somewhat mellow with both post turbo cats removed. I removed the uppipe cat and it is now louder. Sounds very nice, i like it.

One shouldn't just look for the cheapest thing possible. The saying you get what you pay for comes to mind.....Quality should be the # 1 thing. I will be running a special next month on the Stromung exhausts if anyone is interested. And they are more of a premium brand then something you can buy on ebay.

Hope this helps!

i would get he Stromung cat-back, but if you want a more inexpensive soulution, the Borla Hush would be a good option. I think its set up to directly hook up to the stock mid pipe because it uses the same flange as the stock mid pipe.

You can also get the Stromung in an Axle Back in 2.5in piping that is a direct bolt on to the factory midpipe. They try to keep it where you can connect to any of the factory stuff as high up as you go all the way to the turbo.

I have it and it uses the the same doughnut gasket to bolt up to the last cat. So far I love the exhaust and have found nothing cheap about it concerning build quality, so far....

I would go HKS, The most power gained by all catback systems, and there are papers that you can request from HKS to show that the system is 50 state legal i think. Plus it's HKS. Those are my reasons.
