Unhappy lean condition, need help!

when i started my car last night, i noticed it was idling kinda funny. i was driving the car and the check eng lamp turned on. i used my AP and i came up with PO171 lean condition. the car runs fine, but when i go to a stop, it seems to want to stall. when i was checking the codes with my ap, i knoticed that i was still running it on stage 1 map. i switched it to stage 2, but it still idles funny. my current mods are tbe, up pipe, and ap stage 2 map. any ideas as to what it might be? i just dont want to cause any harm to my engine. any info will help, thanks

Sounds like your car is sucking in unmetered air, aka a post MAF leak. Check your inlet hose (very prone to tearing). Stock IC hoses? BPV?

thanks for the reply! actually i did have a vacuum leak. the plug on the t-connection on the recirculation valve was missing. put a new plug in it and its running fine now.

Did you reset the ecu to get the IAM back up as well?

i used my access port to reset the codes, but do you know if it resets the ecu? if not, i guess i just have to disconnect the batt and pump the brakes right?

Yeah, just disconnect the neg. cable and pump the brakes. Then take it out and drive it hard. Some suggest to floor it into boost in 3rd or 4th and drag the brakes, but I would say be careful unless you are watching egt's. Also, I don't remember what a reset does to your realtime maps, so you might want to check into that as well.

From: Arizona
Car Info: 98/05 RSTi
Mine's also showed to be running lean on the dyno, AFR's between 13.5 and 12.5 at WOT full boost.
Also running AccessPort Stage 2 91, catless uppipe, catted TBE, samco IC hoses, flywheel/clutch, walboro fuel pump.

but I'm not getting the same CEL code, i'm getting:
p0182: Fuel temperature sensor A circuit low input
p0457: Evaporative emission control system leak detected (fuel cap loose/off)

any other ideas (i'm gonna go 'n check for leaks now)

thanks all
