I got a brullen turbo back installed at my dealer, who is 1.5 hours away, so not easy to just go see him about this.. so i need your help with some strange noises i am hearing. My setup..
3" all the way, 1 cat.. catless up-uppipe with flex.

I have narrowed the sounds to the following, could u let me know what sounds u get and dont get..


1. under acceleration (pretty hard) , i hear air rushing through somewhere,.
2. full throttle , after a couple seconds and lasts till i ease off the accelerator, I hear screeching , maybe vibration like rubbing of metal? possibly heat sheats?
3. I hear a faint wistle, almost there constant.. more when i am pressing the gas. 4. when i loooked under the hood and pulled the throttle cable quite hard, when i let go a clunk, ting kind of sound..

I'm so confused as to whats normal or not, or where to look first..oh and the up-upipe was fitted with new gaskets and bolts..so they dont think its the up-upipe

 

an up pipe leak sounds like a high pitched screech. the only way i could solve mine was with a thicker aftermarket gasket. by the way you described the high pitched sound i would say you have an up pipe leak.

 

I agree with Zeke, sounds like you have an exhaust leak before the turbo. One of the manifolds or Uppipe fittings. Check the pipes for black 'blast' marks at fittings/gaskets. You should find one.

I agree, I had this problem on my old mitsu Eclipse, I would hear those sounds under the same conditions you would. Problem was, I used to go through header and downpipe gaskets like you would not believe. The bolts would come loose after high rev driving and consequently the gaskets would blow. It was a nightmare. My suggestion is to check all the bolts and gaskets and make sure they are intact/tight. The eclipse headers were made by Kamikaze by the way.
