Hey guys,
I did a little search and couldn't find a solid thread about this kit, so here it is. Recently I purchased a complete K&N Intake and installed it on my 05 WRX Wagon. Here's what I discovered.
Pros...
Beautiful construction
Perfect fitment
Reusable filter
Sounds like 30 Psi instead of 14 Psi
Easy to install
Cons...
Extremely flashy (Crinkle Red)
Sounds like 30 Psi instead of 14 Psi
Expensive when new
In all honesty, I have to say its a big win for this intake. I was looking for something to upgrade the factory filter when I ran across this in the BAIC forum. It was for sale at a great price and I thought worst case I could do a little write up on it. But its been anything but bad at all. Infact for such a small modification, its made a huge impact. The car pulls harder and runs smoother. Fellow 04-05 owners know the dip in power and the surge around 5000 rpm. But with this the power band feels more linear and lasts longer. I have to admit, it is a worth while modification for the two liter boys.
Feel free to ask any questions or share your experiances with this intake. Thanx!

IMHO its not worth the money for that when the stock box can handle around 300hp. If you want a nice flowing intake system, remove the intake silencer, get a K&N panel filter along with the following:
PERRIN Performance™ Intake Charge Pipe

PERRIN Performance™ Turbo Inlet Pipe

Perrin vs. Stock
This is what I am going with instead of an aftermarket intake, this should be an awesome setup for anyone not planning on using a FMIC.

WRX STL, where can u get that kind of pipe, i was actually thinking about running a K&N intake like AJBOOST but if ur way is cheaper and does the same thing, then that may b a good way to go, how did u pay for the turbo inlet pipe? where did u get it?

That’s kinda how it all began. I was simply looking for a replacement air filter. I cam across the K&N Drop in and simply took it a step further. After visiting K&N's web site I decided what the heck. I suppose your suggestions are a bit better priced, but you have to remember I bought mine from another I-Clubber. For $150 it can't be denied a good buy. Since I was going to replace one part, why not do it all with a company that has a great reputation for building quality products. Besides, I had something similar in my Fox Body and I loved it!
Plus...
The PERRIN Performance™ inlet pipe retails for $229
The PERRIN Performance™ intake charge pipe $79
The combined total is $308! Far more expensive than a NEW K&N intake system.
Plus that figure does NOT include the cost of the drop in filter. Per that price I SAVED over $150! Thanks for your imput though, its a combination I considered at one point.
PS
I say this with the up most respect...I'm trying to create a thread to answer questions and post experiances with the K&N intake. I'm not promoting an intake, just relaying my findings while using this particular one. Please post any other suggestions for combinations in the intake thread. Thanx again.
