Just Purchased first WRX, couple issues
I finally picked up my first WRX yesterday. Its an 02 blue sedan w/ 70k miles. Managed to get it for only $9700. Anyway, at low speeds when going over little bumps (or big bumps), there is a knocking sound coming from somewhere in the rear. Sounds like something metal bouncing around in the spare area, but theres nothing in there. What would be the probable cause for this? Other than that, it seems like a good car so far. Once i get the decals off and some real mods on, it should be a great car.

my car made some knocking noise too, but i looked around in the rear and it was just a loose jack. if you have the jack tools in your rear spare tire area, they will make noise too.

i got my 02 and its been making a horrible clanking sound when i go over bumps...i put my new exhaust on today and when it was on the lift i took a look (front left wheel) and it turned out i had bad lower ball joint...new part was like 50 bucks and everythings is good again...btw the greddy evo2 sounds sick

ill prolly go get it checked out once I get my Maxima back. As long as the driveshaft isnt falling out ill be happy. Ive tried kicking the muffler, rocking the car, but I cant duplicate the damn sound to find where it is. Also, is it normal to hear a higher pitched metallic vibrating sound coming from below the shifter at highway speeds? Well, of couse its not... but I wonder whats causing it (?).

does the car have any aftermarket mods to it? if there is a rear sway bar in there, then it could be the bushings needing to be greased again... or the bar hitting something... its a common problem with certain sway bars
