Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Yes check the thread above.....it will fully explain why you shouldn't waste your money on an intake.....though I did spend money on my HKS intake and I love the sound it makes....so I don't think it was too much of a waste.

If you get it, you'll hear the turbo/engine better but there will be no power increase.

Um, I mean, stick with stock unless you're running a bigger turbo or front-mount intercooler. That is all. Now nobody ask this question anymore, okay?

I question pretty much depends on your expectations. No you won't gain 20 HP from this mod. Do stay away from CAI intakes, they don't help the Rex none.. and will probably end up sucking up water the first puddle you hit. On a different note, I installed the "blue" AEM short air intake... butt dyno told me there was a few more horses - not much though. Primary differnce is you can DEFINETLY hear the intake.. suction is pretty load- kinda like a vacuum, and you can hear the stock blow off value release. If you want a little noise and a bit of power, this is definetly one way to do it! All depends on what you want... noise is most of what you will get, personally I think it sounds pretty cool... I love to hear the Power of the Rex, and that is what you get.

becuase non stock intakes don't come in many other forms.

Now if you mean the the plennum that runs into the intake port of the engine. I can't see why you'd ever want to change that.

The only real reason to modify your standard airbox however is simply for making the car louder. (more turbo whine and alot of "whoosy" sucking noise for the turbo too)

Doesn't matter if it's a short ram or CAI - anything that changes the airflow a few inches before the MAF will affect tuning negatively. Leave it stock unless you plan to spend the bucks for an hour of dyno tuning for little or no gain just to smooth out the torque curve.

This is an alternative method of correcting what the aftermarket intake does to MAF metering posted by EcuTek in the UK.

Josh of Cobb Tuning on aftermarket intakes.

It may be a different story if you're upgrading to a big turbo (bigger than the usual VF30/34) or a front-mount intercooler which necessitates the use of an aftermarket intake.

Yeah, if you have any intake questions, before starting a thread, check out the sticky on Cold Air Intakes. It will most likely answer any questions you have.
