Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Injen or similar CAI - does it increase power? (was: need help all u pros)

If you put an intake on you will hear noise. The factory ECU can adjust the fuel since its reading more air.

clear and simple.. CAI = the sux
it just doesn't benefit the car at the stock setting.

but the stock box is connected to the intake silencer. that runs down and is narrow. i know the seal isnot perfectly air tight between the two, but its an ok seal. so if the length of the CAI isnt an issue. its also bigger in diameter.

either way i say dont get it

yet again eddie comes up short

you have to take the silencer out from behind the quarter pannel

heh alright.. doesnt the ecu also base the fuel ratio on the manifold pressure?

Its more ideal than stock in theory but not over a short ram.Plus how much benifit will a cold air intake provide after its "cold" air is sucked through a hot turbocharger? The first thing i did was ditch the snorkus, airbox gasket, and scoop and install a 4" velocity stack that sits in the fender well.

looks sweet

the only reason i would run a short ram is because of a FMIC
i think there would be too much turbulance by the maf
its cheaper
and you khow it works

with that said i would get the mesh fogs for the 03 put the velocity stack where the fog light goes and put ram air in the stock box
that would be sweet to have
not sure it would make it faster but cool factor is there

That would be a cool idea!Just gotta watch out for the puddles though!I've seen a kit out there that does use the foglight as a ram air inlet. Can't remeber where i saw it though.Alot of people don't realize that if you remove the snorkus you must remove the gasket from the air box as well.By removing the gasket the opening goes from a 2 3/4" to 3 1/2".
