Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

From what I know, the flow output of the STI 565cc injectors is about the limit of what a stock ECU can handle, even w/ it's learning ability.

I heard that the stock ecu can some what learn to adapt to the larger injectors. Is this an ok idea or am I a moron?

NO, YES.

i have a set of sti injectors just waiting to be installed. so you're saying that i can install them and drive around with the stock ecu?

right now i'm stumped with getting the car to a tuner after the installation, but if i can drive then that would be perfect.

I wouldn't. Ask "odyssey". He tried exactly that, IIRC, way back when and his car was none too happy. The Unofficial UTEC Guide sez:

The ECU can only correct +-25% fueling to compensate for injectors. If you
install STi injectors without engine management you will see that the ECU will
max out both ST and LT trims at –25. The ECU is trying to remove loads of fuel
to compensate for the larger injectors.
If the ECU is pinned all the way to one extreme, I would take this to mean it actually cannot properly compensate... at best it means its just barely sufficient, and that's not good enough for me.
