IHI turbo ?s

If I read that correctly all the turbos listed for Nissans are garretts. That's what he is trying to avoid - although I wouldn't give up on the garrett line they make some quick spooling turbos. If you want something quick spooling, but not a lot of boost try something like a garrett T28/T30 with a ball bearing center. A friend of mine has that setup on his miata and he makes boost before 3000RPMs on a 1.8L motor. Of course he's switching to the T3/T4 to try and get 300HP at the wheels.

What i was tring to say is that there are diffrent ihi turbos to use.
vf is strictly subaru. most garret and mitsu turbos have the same flanges or lets say a universal flange. there are ihi turbos with the same flange as garrets. look at the chart agian and you will see that a vf is subaru vj is mazada vi is isuzu and so on there all the same turbos with the exception of the out side of the housing.

probaly wasting money..
I would say you're probaly wasting your money trying to get an IHI. why not just go w/a garret or a company that makes a turbo for your car specifically? i mean from what it sounds like is you just want a fast spooling turbo. There HAVE to be fast spooling turbo's for your car. Also keep in mind, if it spools fast you're probally killing your top end and not going to be able to boost as much as a more laggy turbo, that's why some turbos are more laggy, because that's what you have to sacrifice for high out-put turbos.
sorry that i'm not much help, just trying to save your $$ in the end.

You don't need ball bearings for quick spoolup. On my 2.5L Dodge, the upgraded stock T3 spools at 2000 rpm or less. You have a 2.4 and high compression ratio. You are almost there. I would look for a Garret with a .48 exhaust housing with a stock or even a stage 2 wheel and 60 mm ford compressor wheel. You will have turbo that will spoolup just above 2K rpms, flows about 350 hp worth of air and that cost less then $500. And spend the extra money you saved on engine management.
