which IHI turbo gain more hp

Hi there,
I'm going to upgrade the turbo for my 02 wrx, Can u guys tell me which IHI turbo can gain more hp and more top end hp? Is all IHI turbo can bolt on to my wrx without mod? Thx!!

im sure its the IHI VF22
that's what i got, the power keeps climbing all the way up to the redline, its great, u pay a price with turbo lag though, it doesnt get going till about 3800 rpm,
i ordered an up pipe, underdrive pulleyes, to help with the lag, im sure a light flywheel will do wonders too

the vf series should bolt on with no trouble. the vf22 is biggest of that family. it may not be a good idea to just buy the turbo only, you'll want larger injectors, fuel pump and definitely some sort of ecu management.

Very true, if you replace the turbo you will want to get bigger injectors and pump to deliver more fuel to match the increased airflow. Also a good engine management system will allow you to get max efficiency out of your setup.

All VF series turbos are direct bolt on.

The VF-22 can push the most air but comes at a heavy price IMHO, lag. 3,800 rpm's is a long time to wait for boost. But once it hits, hell yeah. If you want a smoother powerband the VF-30/34 will hit full boost around 3,200 rpms and the VF-23 will hit it around 2,800 rpms.
