IHI Ball Bearing Turbo

I read somewhere that STi uses IHI turbo?
Is that correct? and is good for 300HP with good fuel/exhaust/tuned setup?

Yes it uses IHI, but I do not believe it is true ball bearing. The regular IHIs are roller and sleeve bearing types. There are PE versions of the IHI turbos that I believe are IHI turbos fitted with ball bearings.

Depending on the model you're looking at 340 to 400hp (450 with PE), so say the sales guys...

VF34 is

ball bearing, but only spools up a little faster (if any) than the VF30.
