How would I tell that I'm running lean?

I have a kaynz stealth intake installed in my scooby, and after reading all the info about how CAI cause the engine to run lean, how do I tell if my car is running lean? MY stealth CAI hasn't thrown a CEL, but I don't know if it's running lean, and now I'm a little worried. Can I tell if my engine is running lean by doing a dyno run? I am getting a dyno run tommorrow on the the 10th, so will I be able to tell then? BTW I haven't heard any pinging or anything like that

wide band

Most dyno tunes will include the use of a wide band O2 sensor to log your Air/fuel ratios. Many of them will plot the results on the bottom of the dyno graph.

Ask them if you don't see them sticking a probe in the tail pipe.

If you continue to mod I suggest getting some guages

air/fuel
EGT
and of course Boost

mostly there reliable and give you a sence of security.

Also dont read TO MUCH what people say on forums (sh** even me maybe), or even some sites (spd tuning) according to them < your car will blow up if you put an intake on there, or even a boost controler. I think there modo is "scare them into buying more mods to be safe"

before my car got tuned (2002 wrx engine) I had full exhust, boost controler at 16psi, XS front mount, hks BOV, open end intake like yours (mine was custom) and a pully..according to my guages, and what the tuner said when they tuned the car I was running RICH. and far from lean.

the smell of the exhaust smells like a rotten egg. know how you can smell if a car is stoich or if it's rich...you can also for lean. it smells pretty bad. especailly if you have no cat.

Watch out ofr the rotten egg smell cause that could also just mean you have a bad O2 sensor, or CAT.

well I put my car on the dyno and on the first pull it pinged at 4K. I decided to take the CAI intake I had on and just stick with the stock box and my new exhaust. Going back on monday the 15th for another dyno. Hope there is no more pinging issues.
