How to change spark plugs?
The title says all about it.....
I tried to change them but the engine block is too deep. I just wonder what kind of tools one would need? Or.......do you simply have to up the engine to change?

Is this a wrx?
If so you need to remove the battery, windshield resevior, and intake box to make things easier.
You'll also need a long extension a universal joint and a spark plug socket. For me I remove the rubber thingy in the socket it makes things easier for me.

My rear driver's side plug is a REAL bear - I had to bend an a/c line slightly out of the way for the plug to come out...
Not a fun job, but not impossible either.

Changing the plugs is not that hard ... I use a deep well socket with a flex joint betweent the deep well and the wrench.
Remove the washer fluid box ... and if you have the stock intake remove that. I have an aftermarket intake and dont have to remove it. I can squeeze my arm down there with out too much pain
its a task that takes a few ... not as easy as other cars thats for sure ...

The plugs we use in the Subaru have a crush washer. If you look on the box the plugs came in I think they say to tighten them 3/4 of a turn more after they get seated. In all honesty it's almost impossible to get a torque wrench in there . However that was a good guess, the touque is 15 ft/ lbs.

NGK plug PFR6G
The NGK plugs come with tightening instructions, I believe the PFR6G's require going hand-tight (basically 'seating' the gasket against the head), then going 2/3 of a full turn further to properly crush the gasket. Bosch +4 plugs in a WRX? Many of my customers have had MUCH better luck with the standard issue 'laser platinum' which were OE issue for many Japanese cars over the +4 Bosch. Not sure if the +4's are a good idea for the WRX. In the past, in my experience, Bosch Platinums were not the answer.
Good luck,

Not really, I put some Bosch +4's in my wifes OB that had a 2.5 I didn't notice any thing bad or good about the way the car ran. However when I took them out and changed the plugs after 30K, it was obvious that on all 4 plugs only one of the electrodes was doing all the work. If I can find them I'll try to take a close up shot to show what I mean. I still think copper NGK's are the best way to go if you change them more often is all.
