They were $100 bucks and replaced the stock, hard plastic intercooler hoses, bov return hose and throttle body to intercooler hose. They offer an increase in turbo spool (about 500 rpm's), smoother acceleration and a few extra ponies. Nice, noticable gains from such an affordable and easy mod.

The reason I know it's 50 state legal is because I was pulled over for having it on my car. The cop tried saying that it was too 'big.' I called my tuner and HKS faxed him documents that say its 50 state legal and I took them to court and got off. Now I keep them in my glove box for the next time a cop wants to f*ck with me.

I thought 100% atmosphere BOVs cause the car to run rich, not lean... or so that's what I've been reading on most threads about the matter on this forum.

twistedsymphony, I'm not trying to start a war, but a backfire cannot occur from running a 100% atmospheric bov. Do a little research to find out what a backfire really is before you go and give information on it to someone... a backfire is the result of a valve(s) not closing entirely, thus letting fuel escape into the intake manifold creating a loud BANG! from the explosion of fuel that is in the manifold. Something other than a backfire occurs when you run an atmospheric bov. With a stock bov, it vents the air back into the intake. The MAF sensor is constantly monitoring airflow. When the bov vents, the MAF senses the recirculated air and compensates by adding fuel. The same thing happens with an atmospheric bov, but the extra fuel is being added without the recirculated air. So, when the bov closes, the extra fuel "pops" when burned. As for an air intake, yes it may cause you to run a little lean, but not enough to hurt an already rich running car.

twistedsymphony -- Did you say altasports.com? I went there and it's a website for some ski lodge in Utah $450 sounds sweet, but I don't think Mormon wintersports enthusiasts are gonna give me such a sweet deal
Could you double check for me please? I've been searching high and low for the Hiper and can only find it for $475 (but I think that was a limited time offer...) Thanks!

anyone know if the hks carbon-ti is 50 state legal? I want to know because cops in california are heinous when it comes to mods and it would be nice to have a paper saying it was kosher in the glove box should such an occasion arrise.

The carbon ti and the hi power are the same exhaust, just one has titanium and carbon fiber and the other one doesnt. I dont see why the carbon ti wouldnt be 50 state legal. Call HKS or an HKS dealer, they should know for sure.

I am looking to buy the HKS hi-power exhaust. I also have the optional rear differential protector. Is it true that i will need aftermarket hangers to install the exhaust system?

The whole deal between Hiper and Hi Power is just Japanese-English semantics. It's been referred to the Hi Power in Japan since its inception, but as the Hiper here (who knows why?) So they changed it to the Hi Power here just recently. Either way, I still want one
