Hesitation???
hey gang
any help would be appreciated on this topic.
my 97 wrx is hesitating under WOT.
ive changed the spark plugs and 2 coilpacks, fuel filter ,oil and filter.
my *** import wrx has lightened flywheel ,apexi super intake
and recently a new powerflow exhaust from cat back
now this hesitation is only noticeable when the car has fully heated up.its like loss of power for a sec then normal then hesitation.i get no CEL. have connected the black plastic connectors under steering CEL flashes constantly (no error codes)
same when i reset the ecu normal flashing,but the car drives ok after a reset but then the hesitation comes back after a day or so.
how can i tell if this is my MAF or the new powerflow exhaust.
does a standard wrx import have 2 silencers (including the backbox) cos the new powerflow replaced 2 silencers one just after the turbo. cos i thought they may have replaced my cat .

I occasionally get that in second gear at WOT, but mine is a US spec 03 rex. I've had 2 check engine lights that came on for 1 day each (misfire cylinder 1) but other than that, I cant figure out why it does it. it feels almost as if it was a bad shift but the clutch isn't engaged.

i have a USDM WRX 03MY, and i get a hestitation in 2nd gear only about 2700-3200 RPM. I haven't had a CEL and this started occurring a couple weeks ago. I know i'm not answering your question, but I just wanted to throw in my "problem" (if it is one) in case someone else knows the answer

IANOC, what plugs are you running? Try switching to NGK coppers if you aren't already, and make sure they are the correct heat range. Also, try doing the grounding mod. That has cured hesitation for a lot of people in the past. The new exhaust shouldn't be the culprit in any case.

this is the thing it has really been happening since the plugs were changed but a mechanic from subaru changed them
and he said they were the proper ones--cost 75 euros too
they are NGK LASER PLATINUM PREMIUM (stock number PFR6B-11)
are these the culprit?????

and (sorry) the reason i thought it was the new exhaust is cos it backfires some times and when the guy was fitting it he didnt know if it was the cat he was going to remove then he said it wasnt an fitted the exhaust from just after the turbo (sort of just after the 2 front wheels . was that a silencer or is the cat under the car??

i have a 02 wrx usdm motor. before, i had a MISFIRE code on 1/3 but for some reason it went away (hope it stays away). at 2500 rpm she hesitates, used various ECUs, tried different kinds of spark plug and nothing. ohhh, i do have CEL. i am stock.
i've read from doing search that it could be the COILPACK or the EGT on the up-pipe. it was also suggested that to take it to get a COMPRESSION check at the dealer. i'll try to take it to the dealer and get it checked for compression 1st.
