Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Wink Help with the next step in Mods.

Hello all,

This is my first post, though I've been reading this group for a month or so. I have an automatic 2002 silver WRX. Probably a rarity to have the 4 speed hooked up in this group, but I never had a manaul car and this $25,000 daily driver didn't seem to be a good starting point. (I am however looking into a 96 civic with a 5 spd for that though...another project). Anyway I had some mods put into my WRX, a Unifilter CAI, a GFB BOV and a turbo gauge. I did it mostly for the fun factor as the intakes sounds really cool as does the BOV. Actually personally I think the CAI made the car accelerate more smoothly from low boost to max boost modes. So now I'm trying to figure out what to do next for about $2500. My main concern is the automatic transmission and how much power it can handle. Also I need the car to be reliable since I use it for everything. I've read about torque converters for the auto tranny, but they seem expensive and I don't think my car is slow by any means. I would also like to keep the car steet legal. Right now I am considering the turbo XS stage 2, and the samco intercooler hose kit. I've also considered an up pipe, with a cat so I can pass inspections. Anyone with modified auto WRXS out there? Also anyone ever order wheels and tires from tire rack? I look forward to your input. Thanks!

Go ahead and PM inFek. He's got a nice fast 4EAT out here in Hawaii and he can answer all your questions. He's currently running a TXS Stage 4 without torque converter... yet. He just put a transmission cooler in, though.
